About The Cottage

Built in the early 1940s, Sandy River Cottage is now into the fifth generation of our family.

 Our family has enjoyed many many long and beautiful summers at this lovely little piece of heaven. Now it is available to you and your family.  

 Come and create your own memories of seaside leisure, fire-side s'mores, and beach-combed treasures.   

 Shelling, building sand castles and beach combing were always favorite activities for the kids as they grew up, and nothing can replace the memories of a warm summer sun, a sea breeze, and waves washing your toes. This is truly a marvelous place to just enjoy.   

Sit on the deck and watch the kids below on the beach, or join them and harvest those sea glass treasures you'll want to carry home. Who can forget that warm afternoon, a sunny clear sky, and the waves lapping the shore. Memories are made here that can last a lifetime.  

Warm and comfortable, the cottage is fully equipped for your stay.  Using 2 bunks, a queen size bed in a separate bedroom, and a fold out couch we can sleep six.  We also provide everything but linens, food and internet.  While there is excellent phone coverage in the area by most providers, internet is not available.  

 A quiet little coastal fishing village, Jonesport is just four short miles from the cottage and sports all the necessities for camping on the shore. There are lobsters, clams and fresh fish to be had right off the boat at the pier. There is a grocery, gas station and a hardware store. Jonesport is a quaint and wonderful little harbor full of fishing boats, sea gulls, and the US Coast Guard station which covers this part of the coast. Connected by a bridge, is Beals Island; easily accessible from the downtown and well worth a day of exploring. The is a great little take-out restaurant on Beals with some delicious seafood offerings. Beautiful vistas and challenging hiking trails abound in this area and you'll meet some really nice folks too.  This is Maine.
